Woodstock, ON – The oldest woodworking show in North America turns 30 this year. The Woodstock Woodworking Show is set to launch Oct. 2, 3, 4 at the Woodstock Fairgrounds. The show is designed to inspire, educate and allows home hobbyist and contractor’s to stock up on their tools & machinery. With the fall quickly approaching many woodworkers are now dust off and fire up their woodworking tools and start creating quality heirloom pieces that will be loved by family and friends for many years to come. All the major tool manufactures will be present at the show and happy to assist you with your woodworking needs. Exhibitors are coming from all over Canada, USA and India to display their tools and machinery.
This year, the Woodstock Woodworking Show, will be going back to the past and bringing back multiple seminars stages. With 38 free ongoing seminars running throughout the weekend there will be plenty of opportunity to learn new skills. Free seminars range in topics from finishing, tool setup, woodturning, wood carving, laminating, mitre saw, DIY windows, doors and stair resurfacing seminars to name a few.
Also new this year will be two paid hands-on woodworking workshops, presented by Ken Mercer. Ken was a professor and coordinator in the Industrial Woodworking Techniques (Cabinetmaking) program at Mohawk College. Ken has designed a 6- hour compressed workshop that will teach woodworkers how to build their own cabinets, you will learn how to calculate every part and cut the pieces to size knowing that everything will fit together with confidence. Ken has also developed a 4-hour Quality Finishing Techniques Workshop which will teach woodworkers how to give every project they create a professional finish.
This event will mark the first year of the Ontario Woodcarving Championships at the Woodstock Woodworking show. This competition, the provincial championships, will attract the best carvers who will be competing for cash and prizes as well as the pride of a provincial championship. Entries will be accepted Thursday and Friday of the event, and judging will take place the Friday when the show opens. The Woodstock Woodworking Show is under new management this year. The promotors have over 20 years of woodworking show experience having run the Hamilton Woodworking Show for the last 21 years. This year the team has changed the traditional floor plan of the event, and have brought in a complete selection of machinery, tools, accessories, and of course, wood.
