TTC construction updates from Joe Cressy

King-Charlotte-Adelaide

The City of Toronto and the TTC will replace the streetcar tracks and complete some sidewalk repairs at the intersections of Charlotte Street with King Street West and Adelaide Street West beginning later this month.

Phase 1, from March 29 to April 10, will fully close the intersection of King Street and Charlotte Street. No vehicles or streetcars will be permitted through the intersection. Pedestrian access will be maintained.

Phase 2, from April 11 to April 22, will close all but one lane of traffic on Adelaide Street. Vehicle access to Charlotte Street will be via King Street only. Pedestrian access will be maintained.

Some work will take place overnight to shorten the duration of the project, but the noisiest work – concrete breaking and removal – will not occur after 11 p.m.

Bathurst Street

Over the next couple weeks, the TTC will be conducting essential concrete repairs to multiple locations along the track allowance margin on Bathurst Street from north of College Street to Bathurst Station. Repairs at these locations are required to return the track area to a state of good repair.

This work will require streetcar service to be diverted on the March 19/20 and 26/27 weekends. Regular streetcar service will be maintained during weekdays.

The repairs will be staged in four phases working north from College Street:

  1. North of College Street to south of Ulster Street.
  2. North of Ulster Street to south of Harbord Street.
  3. North of Harbord Street to north of Lennox Street.
  4. North of Bloor Street to Bathurst Station.
