Toronto’s coolest annual citywide dinner party

Reidun Squires —

Around the same time you wind down from your busy day, about 5,000 homeless Torontonians are trying to figure out where to sleep. On Saturday Nov.19, Homes First will host its fourth annual citywide dinner party, Homes For Dinner. The event celebrates the importance of “home” by raising funds to house homeless men, women and children currently living on Toronto streets.

Local celebrities host in their own homes to battle homelessness with ‘Homes for Dinner’

Open to the public, the event features dinner parties at homes across Toronto. Councillor Mike Layton, Toronto’s top criminal defence attorney Jonathan Rosenthal, Manager/Founder of Anson Group Moez Kassam, Canada’s Worst Driver host Andrew Younghusband or Opera tenor Richard Margison…could be cooking guests dinner in their private homes. There is a twist! Guests won’t know whose home they’ll be dining at until names are drawn on the night of the event…

Approximately 5,000 people in Toronto are homeless, with nearly 3,200 people currently on the wait list for supportive housing. The homeless are often victims of violence, suffer from poor health and have a higher incidence of suicide. Last year’s event raised $100,000 to help provide affordable, stable housing and support services.

Guests gather for a pre-dinner reception at William Ashley, 55 Bloor St. W., where they’ll be presented with an envelope revealing the name of their host and location of their dinner party. They’ll then be whisked away to their host’s private home.

Tickets are currently available, but we will sell out! – Check out our events website www.homesfordinner.ca for more information about this exciting event!
