Thousands pledge Oath of Allegiance at the hand of the Caliph

The World Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at, the Caliph, His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad to initiate new converts into the fold of true, peaceful Islam

On October 21, after the Caliph’s Friday Sermon, thousands of members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at – as well as new converts who have recently accepted Islam – will be pledging an Oath of Allegiance at the hand of the Caliph. Among the new converts are Syrians refugees who have come to Canada to flee the turmoil of their homeland.

The founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at, the Promised Messiah, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, initiated the Oath of Allegiance in 1889; in order to join the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at, members are required to abide by the ten conditions of the allegiance as laid out by the founder of the community. These ten conditions perfectly embody the true, peaceful teachings of Islam as taught and exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

There are ten conditions of the Oath of Allegiance. For instance, the fourth condition of the Oath of Allegiance instructs:

“The initiate shall, under the impulse of any passions, cause no harm whatsoever to the creatures of Allah in general, and Muslims in particular, neither by his/her tongue nor by his/her hands, nor by any other means.”

All those who subscribe to this Oath of Allegiance are committed to upholding peace and harmony, and rejecting all forms of extremism and injustice.
