I have never seen this popular spot so busy. Large families, small groups, doubles, singles were all there. The windows were wide open and it felt as if we were all in a garden. The Terrace was also filled. It is no secret that this is my favorite place in town. I love the fact that Frankie Lasagna (real name) is the chef and proprietor. I can’t believe he has had no cooking training. His food is magical, creative and absolutely delicious. I dine here as often as I can. I have been raving about this restaurant for so long. Finally my son and daughter-in law set a date for the three of us. They loved it at first sight. The décor is so charming and inviting. The service is always delightful. I wonder where they even store all the ingredients. The kitchen is postage stamp size. All that miraculous food comes from this tiny spot.

My son ordered the Grilled Salmon ($21.00) on my recommendation. I have enjoyed that dish on several occasions. The portion was large. The fish was perfectly flavored and cooked just the right amount of time. The fish is served with 2 choices of rice, roasted potatoes, house or Caesar salad, vegetable medley, asparagus or broccolini. My son enjoyed the Caesar Salad and the large mound of rice.  He could hardly finish it all but when a dish is that delicious you make room. The vegetables are always cooked to perfection.

My daughter-in-law enjoyed the Special Pasta ($16.00) of the evening. Linguine with Shrimp in an Alfredo Sauce. It was served in a large white bowl sufficient for 2 people. She actually had enough to being home for lunch the next day. I ordered Shrimp Linguine and asked for a white wine garlic sauce. It was outstanding. Many large plump shrimp were so enjoyed. The pasta was flavorful and cooked al dente. Gluten free pasta is available.

I knew the size of the portions so we didn’t order an appetizer. In the past I have enjoyed several of the salads. The portion size is large and the freshness and flavor were always appreciated. At this time of year the Watermelon Salad is offered with baby spinach, cucumber, tomato, red onion, feta, oil and vinegar dressing. ($12.00) The Avocado Salad is prepared with mixed greens, tomato, red onion, cranberries, sunflowers and pumpkin seeds, goat cheese, avocado-cilantro dressing ($14.00) In the past I have enjoyed Pizza. I still claim it is the best pizza in town. My favorite is the Vegetarian Pizza with grilled eggplant, zucchini, roasted red peppers, sautéed mushrooms, caramelized onions and goat cheese. ($18.00) Whole wheat dough is available upon request. There is a great selection of pizzas. A friend of mine has loved the Lamb Chops. We all noticed the next table was enjoying an order of this special dish. The lamb is beautifully seasoned and cooked to perfection. Hamburgers are large, meaty and delicious. Whether you choose the Fat Lip ($15.00) or the Lipstick Hamburger ($14.00) you will be delighted. I love the Mushroom Burger with the creamy mushroom sauce and mozzarella. ($16.00) Every dish I have had has always been perfection on the palate. The crowds tonight were testament that this is a ‘hot spot’ in town. It seems as if it is still a neighborhood gem. I hesitate to talk so much about this favored spot but it is so good I need to ‘shout from the roof.’

I was determined to try a dessert. I have never had room before. I was told that the magnificent Chocolate Cake was prepared by Frankie Lasagna’s mother. Outstanding! Don’t read about it. Just go.
