The St. Lawrence Seniors Club invites area seniors to join them for its annual summer bus excursion.
This year’s trip will head north to Georgian Bay and take in the Black History Tour at Sheffield Park Museum. The full day event is free and sponsored by the St. Lawrence Neighbourhood Association Community Fund. The trip gives area seniors a chance to learn about Ontario’s unique history and enjoy a social outing in the great outdoors.
“The bus trip is a perennial favorite for seniors,” explained Ann Turner, one of the club organizers. “For many it’s their only chance to get out of town during the summer and everyone enjoys the opportunity to get together and make new friends. We only have 47 seats though so I encourage people to book early.”
The bus leaves from the St. Lawrence Community Recreation Centre Sept 5 at 8:30 a.m. sharp and returns between 5 and 6 p.m. on the same day. The free event includes coach fare, tour admission and lunch. Reservations are required. Contact Eunice at 416-203-8240 or Ann at 416-947-1196 to book your seat by Tuesday, August 22.
The annual summer bus excursion is open to all older adults in the St. Lawrence and Gooderham Worts Neighbourhoods. The St. Lawrence Seniors Club meets every Wednesday from 1-4 p.m. at the St. Lawrence Community Recreation Centre, 230 The Esplanade. For more information contact Max Burke at the Centre at 416-392-1347.
