St. Lawrence invites all to Canada Day

The St. Lawrence Neighbourhood Association (SLNA) invites everyone to join its annual Canada Day celebration on July 1 from noon to  3 p.m. in Market Lane Park at Front and Jarvis streets.

“Canada Day is an important time for our diverse community to come together and celebrate what it means to be Canadian,” explains Connie Yang, event founder and co-chair.

This year’s event will highlight local talent with community artists and students taking the stage. There will also be popular favorites like free hot dogs and cake, and greetings from our elected representatives. Families will be treated to a range of fun children’s activities courtesy of the St Lawrence Public Library, Parent Resource Network and Young People’s Theatre.

The day will start with a parade down the Esplanade. This year’s parade promises to be bigger and better than ever with prizes for best decorated bike and best dressed dog. Drop down to Crombie Park at Lower Sherbourne at 11 a.m. to join the fun and start your day.

The celebration moves to Berczy Park at 3 p.m. for the launch of JAMII’s sculptural photo exhibit, The ESP Stories and more family fun.
