SLNA hosts open house ‘Inspired’ volunteer gardeners to be recognized

The St. Lawrence Neighbourhood Association (SLNA) will hold an open house on Sept. 24 from 7  to 9 p.m. at Time Square Restaurant at 140 The Esplanade.

The evening will give delegates and residents a chance to connect with each other, the organization, and the St. Lawrence Neighbourhood community past and present in a relaxed atmosphere.

SLNA president Dwight Peters notes, “We live in a very active neighbourhood and our regular monthly meetings have been jam packed with business items. Delegates have told us they would welcome a chance to get to know each other and the community better.”

The open house will feature a “Speaker’s Salon” with special guests who will address the unique development of the St. Lawrence Neighbourhood. In addition, there will be a chance to learn more about the SLNA’s role in the community and also that of its many community partners through visual displays. The main purpose though is to bring people together.  “It will be informative and a lot of fun,” noted Peters.

The evening will also give the SLNA a chance to recognize some special people in the community. This includes the neighbourhood’s inspired volunteer gardeners and former Time Square owners Nick and Sophie Demopolous.

As Jacquie Williams (SLNA secretary and event catalyst) explained, “The open house has been something we’ve wanted to do for a long time. We hope a lot of people drop by to see what we’re doing and hopefully how they can get involved.”
