Rosario Marchese and Nick Morgan are the guest speakers at the Sept. 16 meeting of Tower Power Toronto, formerly the Downtown West Multi-Unit Solar Energy Project from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at 21 Nassau St. Marchese seeks support for his private members bill to increase the protections for condo purchasers and allow condo boards to invest some of their reserve funds in renewable energy projects. Morgan is a principal in Morgan Solar, a start-up company that has developed innovative, low-cost solar panels that are currently being tested. He will describe his products, and give an overview of what lies ahead in renewable energy systems.
High-rise residents have been meeting bi-monthly to discuss the barriers to having renewable energy systems installed on their buildings’ rooftops. Increasingly, meetings have also addressed various energy conservation strategies which are even more cost-effective. The decision in June to change the group’s name to Tower Power Toronto is reflective of that dual focus. Much of the material discussed at past meetings is already available at ourpower.ca.
