Market’s 203rd birthday takes the cake

Eve’s Temptations did a spectacular job preparing the celebration goody

St. Lawrence Market celebrated its 203rd birthday on Nov. 4 with a low-key ceremony and a high-key chocolate birthday cake backed by Eve’s Temptations in the lower level.
The cake-cutting ceremony was held on stage at the North Market and a large number of lucky shoppers got to taste the cake. The chair of the Old Town Toronto Alliance, Alan Seymour, did the honours and made the first cut.
After that Market Manager Jorge Carvalho did the heavy work, slicing, plating and passing out chunks of the cake. It was gone within minutes.
