The King-Spadina Residents’ Association is taking their battle against noisy nightclubs online.
The group, known to locals as the KSRA, has set up a web-based complaint submission system on their site at www.king-spadina.com that automatically forwards noise disturbance reports to Adam Vaughan’s office and the city’s municipal licensing and standards office, in addition to the KSRA’s own screening centre and database.
“KSRA also evaluates every incoming report—if it indicates that the disturbance is coming from an outdoor liquor-licensed space—KSRA immediately forwards that complaint to the AGCO inspection/enforcement team,” a recent communiqué from the group promises.
A current list of what the KSRA calls “repeat night club offenders” includes hot spots like the Century Room at 580 King St. W., Loki Lounge at 577 King St. W., Level/Suite at 102/108 Peter St., and Rockwood at 31 Mercer St.
Cheval at 606 King St. W. has recently been added to the list.
The KSRA site also asks residents to report noise made by construction and commercial waste removal. However, the site is not intended to handle noise complaints about traffic, the voices of passers-by, emergency vehicles, transit vehicles, emergency road and service repair, deliveries, and waste removal.
“We are simply asking that the owners of these facilities invest appropriately so that their music remains within their facility and does not intrude upon our homes, balconies and gardens,” the KSRA release notes.
“The same courtesy and respect for city regulations is also expected from all commercial enterprises that are operating in this community.”
