Construction activity update: weekend rail replacement near Cherry Street

Metrolinx, an agency of the Province of Ontario, is working to transform the way the region moves by building a seamless, convenient and integrated transit network across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA). Over the next ten years, Metrolinx is transforming the existing GO rail system to deliver a whole new rapid transit experience to your community. With more frequent train service you’ll have more options to get you where you need to go.

THE LOCAL PROJECT
As part of this work, we are replacing old rail and track ties (wooden planks between the rails) along the corridor near Cherry Street this weekend.

WHAT TO EXPECT
We do as much as possible to minimize the effects of the construction on our neighbours. However, this work will create some noise from trucks, moving of materials, and equipment. We will ensure any lights are directed away from homes when possible.
TIMING
Tracks must be taken out of service to complete this work and as a result this work can only be carried out during off-peak times, when there is no train traffic. The work will be completed from 7:00 a.m. on April 23 to 6:00 p.m. on April 24.

Metrolinx is committed to keeping local residents and businesses informed about construction activities and minimizing potential disruptions related to this work.

Thank you for your continued patience.
