Chow hosts Dickens tale

St. George the Martyr Church Anglican Church at 197 John St. is hosting a celebrity reading of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol on Dec. 7.

The event begins at 2:15 p.m. with local artist Charles Pachter reading from his new children’s book M is for Moose (copies will be available and can be autographed). The CBC Christmas Carol reading follows at 3 p.m.

Olivia Chow hosts the reading, which includes celebrity readers Don Harron (also known as Charlie Farquharson) and comedian and local resident James Cunningham.

Christopher Dawes, an accomplished organist and pianist, will direct the day’s musical program.  His combo for the day includes jazz singer Tabby Johnson and singer, songwriter, and parish priest Max Woolaver.

Proceeds will support St. George the Martyr’s Christmas hamper program and other ministries.
