My friend S and I have had some amazing dining experiences. It has become a challenge to find the best food in town with great atmosphere. This time it was her challenge to find the spot. She had previously dined at Weezie’s and wanted me to become acquainted with such a special place.

Weezie’s is just east of Parliament. In the evening the parking on the street is free. This is a major bonus in this busy city. The old building has been exquisitely renovated. It is charming and welcoming and done in the finest taste. The place only has about 10 tables. It is obvious it is a popular neighborhood place. It was crowded when we arrived and people kept coming all evening. I am happy to report that the noise level was tolerable. I was able to converse with my dining companion and to hear what she had to say.

The servers play an important part in a good dining experience. Carrie was our server on this occasion. She was cheerful, adorable and had a smile for us throughout even though she was exceedingly busy. She was helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. She added so much to the positive dining experience.

My dining friend is such fun. She has no qualms about speaking to people on either side and asking for recommendations from the menu. That is how I came to order the Soup of the Day.($8.00) The Roasted Cauliflower Soup was truly the best soup I have ever tasted. There was no cream. Yet, the soup was creamy, thick and the flavor was bursting on my palate. I could have eaten five more and been a happy diner. Outstanding! I must inquire about the chef on my next visit. I want to know who the expert (back in that kitchen) is because little miracles kept appearing.

The Roasted Beet Salad ($10.00) was also bite perfect. Fresh arugula was topped with roasted beets, goat cheese and walnuts. I don’t know what ingredients were in the vinaigrette but it was the perfect amount to anoint the greens and a wonderful flavor to enhance the ingredients.

My dining companion opted for the Burger.($15.00) She claims the meat was exquisite and so flavorful. It was nicely presented with salad, frites and a topping of lettuce, tomato and red onion. I was interested in the Mac and Cheese prepared with asiago, parmesan and bacon.($11.00)

Pappardelle with tomatoes, chilis, pine nuts, basil and parmesan is my choice for the next visit.($18.00)

Perhaps I will change my mind and have the Grilled Wholefish prepared with lemon, olive oil, parsley and salad.($26.00)

I compliment the chef on the exquisite food. I also was happy to see a limited menu with several selected choice items. That way the chef can concentrate on preparing fresh food in a gourmet manner.

We did indulge in the amazing Pumpkin Pot au Crème. Oh my! How delicious!

This is a reasonably priced menu. The surroundings are pleasant and well designed. Every bite was memorable. How can we ever top this on our next venture?
