Watermain work planned

Dennis Hanagan —

The Garden District is in for eight months of roadwork worth $10.9 million starting in April when several watermains—some well over 100 years old—are replaced.
Watermain replacement is scheduled for Elm from University to Elizabeth.

Combined watermain and road work is planned for Gerrard West (between University and Elizabeth and from Yonge to Sherbourne) and for Shuter between Yonge and Sherbourne. Full sanitary sewer replacement is scheduled for Mutual from Queen to Shuter, while Bay from Edward to Elm will have to deal with track replacement. Streetcar platform and road work will take place on College and Bay.

City staff are finalizing adjustments where work interferes with cycle lanes. A public meeting to outline roadwork details will be held in late March.
