St. Michael’s ordains 7 new priests

Mechanic, theatre school graduate and university football quarterback are among those who are now priests
On Saturday, May 10, the Archdiocese of Toronto celebrated the ordination of seven new priests for service to the community. His Grace, Thomas Collins, Archbishop of Toronto, presided at the ceremony, in St. Michael’s Cathedral before 1,000 guests.

The Class of 2008 includes a former mechanic, a Ryerson theatre school grad, a university football quarterback and a Doctor of Economics. The seven newest priests for the Archdiocese of Toronto, who have been preparing for this sacrament for no less than five years, represent the diverse ethnicity of our local church, where mass is celebrated in more than 30 languages each week.

Prior to this year’s ordinations, the Office of Vocations will host a breakfast for current seminarians and those interested in learning more about the priesthood. More than 100 people will attend this gathering before making their way to St. Michael’s Cathedral for the ordinations.
