SLNA reports very positive results

The St. Lawrence Market Neighbourhood BIA is holding its Annual General meeting on November 14th, 2006 at 4 p.m. in the newly renovated Kitchen at the South St. Lawrence Market, (mezzanine South Market, entrance beside main doors). The meeting has been scheduled to approve a new Board of Directors and a 2007 budget for the SLMN BIA. Every business and commercial property owner in the area is automatically a member of the organization and may attend. Toronto City Council recently approved the expansion of the St. Lawrence Market Neighbourhood Business Improvement Area (BIA) boundaries, and the BIA is seeking a few interested individuals who wish to join the Board of Directors. The expansion represents an opportunity to build upon the very positive results achieved by the BIA including streetscape enhancements, promotion and branding, and advocacy. Within the last year the BIA has been proud to have been the author of a few positive steps for the area including:

New streetscape design and beautification for Front Street; Flowerpot hanging and upkeep; Partnership with Old Town Toronto Promotional Alliance and SEDERI for New Victorian Style streetlights hung throughout the area, and the new promotional Old Town website; New trees and planters on the Front Street Median; BIA brochure distributed throughout Toronto and Ontario; www.stlawrencemarketbia.ca; Participation in over 700,000 hotel concierge maps promoting the area; The advocacy of members’ concerns in regards to new developments in the area; Woofstock Festival for Dogs and dog lovers; Buskerfest Festival; BIA hotline.
