Regent Park invites all to celebrate new, spectacular park

Residents of the revitalized Regent Park community welcome visitors from across the city to a music and art-filled ceremony called the Magic City to open Regent Park’s new 6-acre park. Saturday, June 21, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at 640 Dundas St. E. (east of Parliament St.)

The new park features a playground, splash pad, multi-purpose green space, plaza for community events, dog off-leash area, community gardens, greenhouse, bake oven and walkways, with attractive landscaping.

Entertainment for the celebration will be directed by choreographer Bill Coleman of Coleman Lemieux and Compagnie, with musical direction by John Oswald.

It will feature the Toronto Symphony Orchestra with Maestro Bramwell Tovey, the Regent Park School of Music and the Toronto Council Fire Native Cultural Centre.

In addition, there will be more than 400 performers of all ages from the Regent Park community and beyond. Community performances are supported by Artscape and Daniels Spectrum. Food vendors will be offering the many flavours of the community.
