Next Thursday, September 19, more than 100 individuals will step into costume, harness up and rappel 17 storeys down the side of the Canadian Real Estate Investment Trust (CREIT)’s head office at Bloor St. and Church St. Easter Seals Drop Zone Toronto challenges people to face their fears and become superheroes for the day by raising funds for children with physical disabilities in exchange for the opportunity to descend from the top of a downtown high-rise building.
The intersection of Bloor St. and Church St. will also host a live DJ, crowds of onlookers and
celebrity emcees throughout the day to encourage rappellers as they descend, including Global TV’s Jennifer Palisoc, Citytv’s Natasha Ramsahai and Frank Ferragine, CP24’s Chris Potter, CHFI’s Erin Davis, and PROUD FM’s Richard Ryder. All rappellers will receive training by Remote Access Technology International prior to their rappel and are required to raise a minimum of $1,500.
“Drop Zone Toronto is a unique, exhilarating event that asks fundraisers to go above and beyond by stepping out of their comfort zones and facing their fears as they step over the edge,” Carol Lloyd, President and CEO, Easter Seals Ontario. “This event offers a unique opportunity for individuals seeking a personal challenge, and it also raises important funds to help purchase essential mobility equipment as well as offer kids with physical disabilities the chance to attend fully accessible summer camp.”
Drop Zone Toronto is part of a 16-city, nation-wide fundraiser that includes stops in Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, Victoria, Winnipeg, St. John’s, Halifax, Thunder Bay, Kitchener/Waterloo, London, Windsor, Ottawa, Montreal, Regina, and Saskatoon.
