Port Lands placemaking, transit sessions scheduled

Three important consultations on the next phase of port lands development are coming up in November.

The first takes place on Nov. 14 with an open house and information session from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at George Brown College, 51 Dockside Dr. Presentations on key topics will run throughout the day. Staff will be on hand to answer questions. The intent is to provide information ahead of the subsequent events on Nov. 17 and 18.

An evening session on “Placemaking in the Port Lands” will take place on Nov. 17 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Morse Junior Public School, 180 Carlaw Ave. Organizers will seek feedback on the emerging vision and the character of the area with a focus on the Villiers Island Precinct Plan.

The third event will be a workshop on “Connecting the Port Lands and South of Eastern Areas” on Nov. 18 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Fire Academy, 895 Eastern Ave. This workshop will focus more on transportation and servicing for the port lands and area south of Eastern Ave. as part of the district’s master plan. There will be breakout sessions on transportation issues, the proposed character and network of streets and transit in the Port Lands, as well as a session on municipal servicing.
