Intelligence officer gets busted by her colleague, loses licence and her OPP-issued car for 7 days
By Frank Touby —
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Intelligence Officer Heidi Fischer is probably having her brain-waves tested. Or at least pounding her head against a wall after getting busted for speeding in an OPP car by another OPP officer in an OPP car.
But before you think OPP is a Keystone Kops agency just because its boss is self-promoting part-time politician Julian Fantino, you’d have to gather from this tale they’re just scrupulously honest.
Otherwise, why else would they issue a press release on this example of Ontario’s Finest’s conscientious adherence to the rule of law.
Heidi was going 50 clicks over the line on Highway 403, says the OPP’s PR officer in a nation-wide press release.
It seems Heidi couldn’t cut a break from her own OPP colleague. Not only did she get a ticket, she had her driver’s licence suspended for a week. Then, to cap it all off, she saw the OPP’s cruiser she was driving impounded for seven days.
Just following the law, don’tcha know. Detective Constable Heidi works in the OPP Intelligence Bureau at General Headquarters in Orillia. No word on which fellow copper nailed her zipping along on the 403.
