Noun named top 10 hero

nounSt. Lawrence resident and Cambodian antipoverty activist Phymean Noun has been chosen as one of ten finalists in the running to be named Hero of the Year by US news network CNN.

Noun, who was profiled by The Bulletin in July, was selected for the honour out of over 4,000 submissions. She has been granted $25,000 for reaching the final round. If she is chosen, she will receive an additional $100,000.

The Hero of the Year will be announced by Anderson Cooper via live broadcast from the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles on Nov. 27.
