Marine unit praised for party patrollers

anotherThe Waterfront welcomes large crowds that sail the lake on over 20 tour boats. Many of the boats are beautiful and decorated with lights and flags. Their only drawback is the thunderous music that is often pumped out of speakers, bounces around the bay and into people’s homes. YQNA gets many emails and complaints from residents who are kept awake by party boats.
They resent hearing boat announcements and music inside their homes even with windows closed. One resident, who is planning to move away from 99 Harbour Square, recently wrote: “How intrusive is the noise? My condo’s layout is such that I can close two doors between the windows facing the lake and the washroom. “At the loudest points, the music was piercing my windows and both closed doors— I could still hear the thump! thump! in my washroom. I find that to be just incredibly ridiculous. What on earth is going on in the Harbourfront? This place is becoming a total joke.”
Residents on the Island are especially vulnerable, because the party boats often cast anchor there as they party through the night. Fortunately, the marine police on the central waterfront have the authority to ask the party boats to lower the volume.
Suffering residents are very grateful for the efficient and helpful service of the marine unit.
