Making Berczy Park even better

If you have walked by or through Berczy Park lately, you would have noticed a few changes—for the better.

During the Labour Day weekend, volunteers from the community group Friends of Berczy Park introduced vibrant green bistro table-and-chair sets to the area of the park adjacent to the fountain.

They did so thanks to generous neighbourhood donations, a paint crew, the St. Lawrence Neighbourhood Business Association (BIA), support from the city, including Councillor Pam McConnell and her team, plus the city’s parks, recreation and forestry staff.

The new tables and chairs, similar to those found in New York and Parisian parks, give visitors to Berczy Park new places to have lunch, a coffee, read a book or chat with friends and colleagues.

A summertime initiative by Friends of Berczy Park introduced a huge black and white mural by artist Mike Parsons to the expanse of sidewalks just east of the Berczy Park fountain. This was accomplished thanks to citizen and business sponsorships.

Berczy Park is located between Front St. E. and Wellington St. E. on the second block east of Yonge St.
