Local men honoured with Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medals

Downtown advocates Michael Shapcott and the Rev. Dr. John Joseph Mastandrea have been honoured with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medal.

Shapcott, who works as the director of affordable housing and social innovation at the Wellesley Institute,  was awarded the medal in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the province and to Canada and his tireless efforts to put housing on the political agenda and fight for good and healthy housing for all.

Mastandrea, who is the minister of spiritual growth and pastoral care at the Metropolitan United Church, will receive his award on Oct. 16 at the Regent Park Arts and Cultural Centre.
