On April 2 from 6 to 8:30 p.m., Downtown book lovers will get face-time with local authors.
Dozens of Toronto authors will sell and sign their books, mingle with readers and conduct talks and interviews. Joy Kogawa and The Bulletin’s Bruce Bell will participate. More are being added each day.
Kogawa, author of Obasan and co-founder of the Toronto Dollar, envisions the evening as “a banquet for book lovers.”
Presented by Toronto Dollar, the feast is unique in that those attending will be able to meet authors in person and buy books, plus support the community. $1 Canadian buys $1 Toronto Dollar, and 10% of the Toronto Dollars sold goes to community organizations.
The event takes place at the North St. Lawrence Market (Jarvis and Front Streets) and features free admission, talks and interviews with local authors, book sales and signings, and story time for children. There will also be a raffle for a $500 Market shopping spree. By bringing local writers and book lovers together, Kogawa hopes that “the feast of authors will satisfy the hunger for community and connection.”
