Distillery hosts summer information meeting

The Junior League of Toronto (JLT) is hosting and information evening on Aug. 21 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the new Young Centre for the Performing Arts, located in the Distillery District.

“This event is an exciting way to meet women who are interested in learning about and joining our organization. The format of the evening includes a ‘fair’ where VIPs (Very Important Potentials) tour booths that provide both a visual and interactive showcase on how the JLT promotes voluntarism, develops the potential of our members and improves our communities. A short presentation follows to highlight the JLT’s 80-year plus volunteer involvement in Toronto. Last year’s event was so successful in attracting professional women to our organization that this year’s Fall enrolment is already filling up by word of mouth! ” states Lynn Fournier-Ruggles, chair of the JLT’s membership committee.

Through such events, the JLT expects to increase its existing 500-strong membership to bolster its abilities to commit to an ever-increasing number of important volunteer projects in the GTA and to expand its impact on the community.

Since 1926, the JLT has made a positive impact on the quality of life for thousands of Greater Toronto Area residents. The JLT mission challenges its members to improve the community through effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. By contributing millions of volunteer hours and more than $4 million of monetary support to more than 400 community programs & projects, the JLT takes a hands-on approach to help community organizations move forward.
