Cherry Beach SoccerThe lines are painted, the goals and nets in place, all that’s missing at Cherry Street soccer fields are the boys and girls to play the world’s beautiful game.

The Cherry Beach Soccer Club is ready to kick off its first season at the new waterfront soccer facility at Cherry Street just south of Lakes Shore Boulevard this May and is open for registrations from girls and boys aged 5 years to 18 years old.

The location is fully TTC accessible with a stop literally at the gate and features a state-of-the-art turf pitch with floodlights for night games.

Cost for the season is just $60, including full uniform and games are set for Monday, Wednesday and Fridays starting in May and running through to September. There’s a special bonus too: anyone who recruits nine players to the league plays for free!

Games are fully officiated by Ontario Soccer Association referees and there are already 280 players registered. Sponsors already signed up include Tim Horton’s and Rogers Wireless with more to follow.

“Soccer is Canada most affordable and most popular participatory sport for children, youth and adults of all ages and genders,” says CBSC president and founder Georgio Trikkas. “It’s so popular that it’s sometimes hard to find fields, especially in the central areas of the city. We’re thrilled to have this brand new facility to offer the kids and we’re looking forward to growing CBSC as a major soccer entity in Ontario. Who knows? One day, one of our players might go on to play for Toronto FC, Canada or in Europe with Manchester United or Juventus.”

CBSC is a soccer family with a passion for “the beautiful game”. The club is dedicated to the sport and most of the coaches are still actively playing. The club provides a unique environment where children, youth, and even adults can develop the skills, techniques, and passion required to play well.  It provides high quality coaching to help players develop and enjoy soccer to the best of their abilities.

As such, CBSC’s “player first” approach is based upon the principles of fair play, respect for all participants and the application of the letter and spirit of the laws of the game.

“It’s about working hard, creativity, commitment to excellence, and a passion to play,” says Trikkas. “Our approach is the “possession of the ball philosophy” as described and encouraged by the top Clubs in the world.”

Deadline for registration is mid May. For more information and to register, see the Web site or call 416-367-4359.
