Jimmy’s Coffee

Annabelle Goodman —

I have been on the search for the greatest Macchiato in town. My friend’s husband (with her permission) has been helping me explore the best coffee houses in town. Sometimes she even joins us. The establishments vary so much. We have such fun discussing world politics, philosophy, books and films while sipping the finest coffee in town. I come away mentally stimulated and satisfied with the jolt from my favorite drink. Jimmy’s is definitely the most unique coffee spot in town. It is in my favorite area of Kensington Market. The décor is so captivating. Pictures of famous ‘Jimmy’s decorates the wall. The largest picture of Jimmy Carter is over the fireplace. Jimmy Hendrix and James Baldwin are just a few of the others. Give yourself the test and see how many you can name. On a nice day you can sit on the terrace out back. Famous musicians are sketched on the wall. I loved the ambiance. There were a lot of people. Many were working on computers. Some came alone. Others were conversing in various spots. A few tables are inside. The terrace is quite large and very attractive.

It is one of the friendliest places for a ‘coffee break.’ If it is your first time you are even treated a cup of coffee.

Coffee is sold by the pound in very attractive packaging with pictures of famous ‘Jimmy’s on the bag. Some gift items are for sale. Many coffee houses have very little food of choice. We couldn’t decide which pastry to choose. The Lemon Cranberry Scone was great. Cookies, Danish, Croissants and Squares are available. Even a few Gluten Free specialties are in the cooler.

Best of all was the coffee. The Macchiato was full flavored. It was one of the better ones I have enjoyed in the city. There are many options for your coffee choice. The gentlemen at the counter were very friendly and helpful. I had such a good time sipping this extraordinary brew while dialoging about worldly issues.

There is several other Jimmy’s Coffee about town. I think it would be an adventure to check out the other spots and compare. I wonder if their coffee is as delicious as the one I just had. Their motto states it all,” Your coffee, Our passion.’ They are open from 7:00 am until 8:00 pm. There is no excuse for not fitting this delightful pleasure into your schedule.
