Jilly’s will keep jiggling along Queen East

By Will Tremain –

Jilly will keep taking it all off instead of taking off.

Jilly’s Adult Entertainment, a strip club and Toronto landmark, leases space on the ground floor of the New Broadview Hotel at Queen St. E. and Broadview Ave. in Riverside.

Recent exotic rumours dancing around the city claimed that Margie Zeidler of 401 Richmond Ltd. bought the hotel from Toronto businessman Harold Kamin, in order to turn it into boutique establishment a la Gladstone.

The Bulletin stripped down to the facts.

Erin McKeen, communications director for 401 Richmond Ltd., said April 26 that the company has no such plans, but remarked that the rumour is a persistent one.

Staff at Jilly’s also said that they have no knowledge of any such sale. And Jilly’s has recently signed a five-year lease with Kamin, including an option to renew for another five.

Staff at Caddy’s, a Scarborough bar owned by Kamin, and Riverside real estate agent Neil Warshafsky said they had heard nothing about a sale of the Broadview Hotel.

Looks like Jilly will get to keep her G-string for the moment.
