Donna Quan becomes Toronto District Director of Education

Donna Quan officially accepted the position of Director of Education of the Toronto District School Board. Quan, who has served as the board’s Acting Director since January, brings 30 years of education experience to the position.

• Director Quan has an ambitious agenda for her tenure that will be based on demonstrated and visible action. Among the areas that she will be focusing on are:
• Increasing the level of accountability and fiscal management at the Board to ensure every dollar spent is felt inside the classroom.
• Further boosting achievement results, many of which are already at or exceeding provincial standards.
• Ensuring the talent and experience of staff are developed and better focused to have a direct impact on students.

While Trustees officially selected Quan as the new Director of Education on October 9, 2013, as per Board process, terms and final details were voted on by Trustees Oct. 23 and accepted by the Director.

Quick Facts

• The new Director of Education’s contract has a term of four years.
• Donna Quan began her education career in 1983 with teaching roles in a number of elementary schools, including experience in French Immersion and Out-of-Province Native Reserve schools.
• In 1985, Quan began her career at the North York Board of Education (NYBE), where she established one of the first non-profit, school-based Early Years Childcare Centres. Since then, she has held a number of progressively senior positions within the NYBE and TDSB.
