Annual Convention of the Ahmadiyya Canada Muslim Jama`at

Thousands gathered for the first day of the 39th Jalsa Salana (annual convention) of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at Canada at the International Centre, Mississauga, Ontario. The opening address of the first session was presented by the Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and presided by the National President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at, Mr. Lal Khan Malik. Several dignitaries, politicians and diplomats were also in attendance for the opening session.

The Jalsa Salana (annual convention) by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at offers practical solutions to combat various forms of religious extremism, while discussing the reconciliation of freedom of speech and freedom of religion and Islam’s compatibility to The West.

The Prime Minister praised the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at for its commitment to promoting the peaceful teachings of Islam. He further stated, “By your words, by your actions, Canada’s Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at has earned the respect and the admiration of all Canadians”. While referencing the community’s infamous slogan, “Love for All, Hatred For None” he stated, “For you, it is not a slogan, it is what you live by”.

The second day of the three day Jalsa Salana (annual convention) resumes on August 29, 2015 at 10 AM EST at the International Center, Mississauga, Ontario.
