In the third week of the Focused Neighbourhood TAVIS Deployment (FNTD) plan, officers concentrated their efforts on the recovery of stolen vehicles in the Regent Park area.

In 51 Division, Supt. Kimberley Greenwood said many partners within the Service have stepped up to the plate to aid the community. “The FNTD and the Emergency Task force, Mounted Unit, Auxiliary officers and Parking Enforcement Officers (PEOs) have proactively worked in partnership with the community to reduce crime and disorder,” she said.

Many stolen vehicles were recovered through Project Street Sweeper, a component of the FNTD action plan. Parking Enforcement Unit Street Sweeper cars patrol the city, using special cameras that run licence plates against a stolen car database.
This week in 51 Division, a PEO in a Street Sweeper car located a stolen Chrysler minivan with a suspect in the vehicle. The PEO alerted a uniformed patrol car who, in turn, followed the vehicle for a short distance. The vehicle was recovered and the driver was arrested and charged accordingly.
“It is through this type of hard work, dedication and partnership between the officers of the Parking Enforcement Unit and 51 Division that this incident resulted in the recovery of a stolen motor vehicle without incident.
