Island walking tours starting up after flooding ends

High waters and flooding on Toronto island put a damper on the walking tours offered by two longtime residents, but with waters now receding, tours are starting up again.

Join Susan Roy and Linda Rosenbaum, two long-time Island residents for a one hour guided walk through this vibrant and unusual neighbourhood.

See homes and gardens and the beautiful public square recently created by community members. Learn about the Island’s rich 150-year history – from its days as a healing ground for Indigenous peoples, to a resort community for Toronto’s wealthiest families, to today’s thriving mixed-income community living in the lush green Toronto Island Park.

One-hour tours offered Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 11:30. Buy advance tickets on Eventbrite (Walk Ward’s Island) or at tour location. $20 pp, cash or credit.

Take the ferry to Ward’s Island from the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal and meet Linda and Susan at the white gazebo at the Ward’s Island ferry dock.
