YA fiction at This Is Not The Shakespeare Stage

It’s back to school, and on September 21, back to your favourite Young Adult fiction at The Word On The Street Book and Magazine Festival! The This Is Not The Shakespeare Stage features hourly, genre-based, interactive programming sessions with the great young adult books, authors, and artists Canada has to offer.
This year the festival showcases Ontario’s talented youth, as BAM! Youth Poetry Slam hits the stage at 1:15 PM. Led by the award winning spoken word artist Patrick de Belen, poets Brian Lanigan, Saredo Mohamed, Ray Abergas, Karel La Guardia, Bidhan Berma and Ida Sophia will make you laugh, cry,  and question everything you learned about poetry in high school. Our own local talent are invited to jump on stage and share their spoken word in the first ever Youth Spoken Word Showcase for poets between the ages of 12 to 19. Those interested in participating can visit The Word On The Street’s website for more information, or email programming@thewordonthestreet.ca.
12:15 PM is your first chance to get a peek at the Seven Sequels. After the huge success of Seven (the series), find out how bestselling authors Shane Peacock, Richard Scrimger, and Ted Staunton tackle collaborative writing in a series filled with new clues, kidnappings, and confessions. Don’t forget to have your books signed after their appearance.
Join Megan Crewe, author of the Fallen World series, at 3:45 PM for an exciting preview of her new science fiction trilogy, Earth & Sky. A limited number of attendees will receive free advanced reading copies of Earth & Sky, signed by the author. Locate the stage here to make sure you get there on time!
Many more topics will be covered and great books discovered throughout the day. Other exciting authors include Lesley Livingston, William Bell, Robert Priest, Gail Gallant, Kat Kruger, and more. For a full schedule of author appearances and discussions on the stage, click here.
