Terrazza

Annabelle Goodman —

I used to live around the corner of the present day Terrazza. It was originally a car mechanic repair place. You can still see signs of the large doors that would roll open. The place later became Lipstick, a stopping place for the high school students in the area. It was run by the present owner’s father. Son, Frankie Lasagna wanted to run a restaurant. His parents helped him to open Terrazza. They live next door and are very much a part of the restaurant. Don’t leave until you taste Mom’s Chocolate Cake. It is mouth watering delicious.

Frankie operates with a very talented staff in the most miniscule kitchen you can imagine. It faces the front door. You are greeted when you arrive and always thanked when you leave. I love Terrazza. It is charming, comfortable and very welcoming with outstanding affordable food. The fireplace always beckons. The staff is delightful. On this occasion Joele was our delightful efficient server. She was very busy but never seemed rushed and kept checking if all was well.

I was dining with my son and daughter-in –law. They asked where I wanted to go. We all agreed that this was our first choice. We have dined here countless times. Many friends have come at my suggestion. Everybody loves the food and the warm atmosphere.

Appetizers are varied and delicious. We were coveting the large bowl of Mussels that was being enjoyed at the next table. The Lasagna appetizer offers 2 bite size pieces with meat or veggie. Shrimp is sautéed in garlic and rose sauce. La Famiglia is a selection of cheeses, cured meats and grilled veggies. Share or enjoy as an appetizer or a light meal. The Salads are fresh, flavorful and a generous size. I have enjoyed several different salads on my many visits. The Avocado is prepared with mixed greens, tomato, red onion, cranberries, sunflowers, pumpkin seeds, goat cheese and topped with a creamy avocado cilantro dressing. The Arugula Salad and Caesar Salad are gourmet quality.

I still maintain Terrazza has the best Pizzas in town. The crust is thin and the toppings are plentiful and tasty. My favorite is the Vegetarian Pizza topped with grilled eggplant, zucchini, sautéed mushrooms, red pepper, caramelized onions. I always plan to bring home the last few uneaten slices. It doesn’t happen. I eat it all.

My son and I both raved about our Grilled Salmon. It was moist and perfectly cooked. Choose 2 sides from broccolini, asparagus, Caesar salad or arugula salad, potatoes or rice. The broccolini was still a bit crunchy and well flavored with garlic. Delicious. My daughter-in-law enjoyed the Grilled Lamb. A friend always orders this lamb when she visits this restaurant. Grilled Chicken and Steak is also available as a main.

The Hamburgers always look ‘tower high’. There are several options. The Lipstick offers ‘fat lip’ toppings. The Mushroom Burger is topped with creamy mushrooms and mozzarella.
I always have trouble deciding if I will have the pizza, salmon or pasta. I remember my last visit with a large bowl of Gluten Free Pasta. The Shrimp Linguine is also a savory delight.

This is a favorite neighborhood restaurant. Great affordable food in a warm inviting atmosphere!
