Meet-a-Muslim-family campaign to unite Canadian families

Safwan Choudhry —

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at Canada has launched a national campaign titled “Meet A Muslim Family” to connect Canadians with their fellow Muslim families. This campaign aims to introduce the various diverse Muslim families, their traditions, cultures and hospitality, while embracing the Canadian mosaic.
In recent months, there have been several heinous terror attacks carried out in the name of Islam, by violent extremists, both here in Canada and around the world. Canada is synonymous with terms like pluralism, multiculturalism, tolerance and acceptance of newcomers; Muslims in Canada welcome their fellow Canadians to see how they represent these values.

Starting March 1, Ahmadi Muslims living across Canada will be welcoming fellow Canadians to their homes and mosques from Newfoundland to British Columbia. Through this 2-week campaign, Muslim Canadians hope to bridge the gaps and remove misconceptions regarding Islam and Muslims. As per the core teachings of Islam, Ahmadi Muslims firmly stand loyal to Canada. Canadians are invited to visit www.MeetAMuslimFamily.com or Twitter @MeetAMuslimFam #MeetAMuslimFamily

Through this campaign Canadian Muslims will showcase to their fellow Canadians that a Muslim faith is not in conflict with Canadian values. Lal Khan Malik, National President of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at Canada stated “Ahmadi Muslims Living in Canada will always stand to defend the honor of Canada”, he added “Ahmadi Muslims cherish Canadian values and will continue to make positive contributions to Canadian society”. Violent extremist groups are using propaganda to create fear and divide amongst society; hence Canadian Muslims hope to debunk their efforts through this campaign.
