Heritage Champions feted at Enoch Turner Schoolhouse

Held annually in December, the 2013 Annual Founder’s Dinner at the Enoch Turner Schoolhouse celebrates the Christmas dinner that Enoch Turner gave in 1848 to the poor Irish children in the Schoolhouse he built as the city’s first free school. Today, the Enoch Turner Schoolhouse Foundation promotes free education in Ontario.

This year, Joe Martin, Director of the Rotman School’s Canadian Business History Program and Philanthropist Nancy McFadyen were honoured by the Foundation with its Heritage Champion Award.
