Fatal collision on Cherry south of Polson

On Thursday, October 27, 2016, at 3:49 p.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision at Cherry Street and Polson Street.

It is reported that:

– a woman, 54, was driving a 2011 Toyota Corolla, northbound on Cherry Street, approaching the shipping channel bridge (Cherry Street Bridge)
– for reasons not yet determined, the vehicle left the roadway, mounting the sidewalk, subsequently striking a guardrail and plunging into the shipping channel

The 54-year-old woman received fatal injuries and was pronounced at the scene.
