Downtown Seen May 2016: Earth Day

Dennis Hanagan
On April 22 Downtown community groups spent Earth Day scouring their neighbourhood streets, picking up everything from cigarette butts and plastic bags to coffee cups and old newspapers—stuff that less community-minded individuals drop wherever they please. The Bulletin caught up with volunteers from the Downtown Yonge BIA and the Good Shepherd Ministries in Corktown as they searched for eye-sore litter. Volunteers separated their general garbage and recyclables into the proper bags for city pickup and then were treated to a late breakfast.
